Germany is one of the countries that have the cleanest natural environment and the most thorough environmental enducation in the world.

　　在德国人看来，儿童时代接触大自然的经历，对于提高公众的环境意识至关重要，只有那些曾亲自去发现大自然的奥秘并热爱大自然的人，才能保护身边的环境。因此，德国人往往会在孩子降生不久，就开始带他／她们到户外去活动，帮助孩子从自己身边的环境中去发现、感受和体验万物的存在和变化。

　　In the view of German people, the experience to contact the nature during one’s childhood is very essential to raise the public awareness of environmental protection, and only those who love nature and had personally discovered the mysteries of nature can protect their environment well. Therefore, a newborn child in Germany is often taken outside for outdoor activities in order to help him/her discover and experience the nature and its change.  

　　德国人多喜爱养花种树，每当父母做园艺的时候，总是会把孩子带在身边，让孩子与自然充分接触。孩子们通常会因为好奇而帮着浇浇水，或是干脆自己开辟一块营养土，种上绿茵茵的小草，然后小心翼翼地呵护它。

　　German people love gardening. And whenever they do gardening, they will always bring their children along and let them have a full contact with nature. Out of curiosity, children usually will help do watering or simply open up a piece of nutritive soil, planting verdant grass on it and then carefully nurture it.

　　孩子上了幼儿园后，帮他／她们认识大自然，培养环保意识，就成了老师们必不可少的“功课”。德国有关幼儿教育的法规规定，幼儿园要把教导儿童维护周围环境的卫生作为一项重要内容。德国有很多幕天席地的“森林幼儿园”，即在森林中搭建简易住房，让孩子们生活在大自然中，在这样的环境中学习和玩耍，所见所闻都是大自然的馈赠，同时了解到自己有保护大自然的责任。

　　After the child enters the kindergarten, it is an essential work for the teachers to help him/her understand the nature and build up environmental awareness. According to the German rules and regulations on early childhood education, teaching children to maintain hygienic surroundings is an important content for the kindergartens. In Germany, there are lots of “forest kindergartens”, that is, to build a simple shelter in the forest so that children can live in nature, to learn, to play, to see  and to hear from the gifts of nature in such an environment, and then to learn that  they have a responsibility to protect the nature.

　　德国一年级的新生刚到学校注册报到，通常会领到一个小本子，这不是供写字或做作业的练习本，也不是普通的日记本，这是环保记事本。它是用“再生纸”制成的，原料是废纸和垃圾。环保记事本的设计很精心别致，封面上面印有森林、草原和田野，就像在德国高速公路两旁常可以见到的风景一样，扉页之后的每一页，都印有小而精美的风光照片，如在阳光下闪着白光的庄严雪山、干净得发亮的河流、静谧神秘的月夜或撒腿飞奔的鹿群…，这些图片让孩子知道：热爱大自然，热爱我们生活的优美环境，也热爱我们身边或大或小或强或弱的生灵。

　　In Germany, a new student will normally receive a small book when first come to  school for registration. This is not an exercise book for writing or for homework, nor is it a ordinary diary, but an environmental friendly notepad. It is made of “recycle paper” , with waste paper and garbage as its raw material. This environmental friendly notepad is delicately designed. Its cover is printed with forests, grasslands and fields, just like the landscape seen on both sides of the German highways. Each page after the title page is printed with a small but beautiful scenery picture, such as picture of snow-capped mountains gleaming white in the sun, picture of clean and shiny rivers, picture of quiet and mysterious moonlit night, and picture of running deers, and etc. These pictures help the children learn to love our nature, to love the beautiful environment we live in, to love the creatures around us.
